Inclusion & Values

Last updated October 4, 2026

This page exists because the work here goes near tender ground — desire, sex, money, the body, the shape of a life built mostly for other people — and nobody should have to guess whether they're welcome before bringing any of that in. If you have spent years making yourself easy to love, you already know how to read a room for its unspoken rules. Here is what this one stands for, in plain words, so you can decide whether it's yours and know what I'll do when I get something wrong.

Who's behind this

I'm Tara Nixon. I'm a woman in midlife, building Dharma Meets Desire myself, one piece at a time. I trained as an attorney and I don't practice law here, so nothing in this work is legal advice. The things I care about most are connection, compassion, and learning, learning above the other two, which is why I would rather hear that I've got something wrong than be protected from it.

This is a space that welcomes

Women, including trans women, and nonbinary people who see themselves in this work.
Queer, straight, bi, asexual, or still working it out. Married, divorced, partnered, single, in a relationship shape without a tidy name, or done with relationships for now.
Any relationship with religion, or none, including one that ended badly. You don't need to be Buddhist, or anything else, to use the word dharma here. We don't allow proselytizing or moral judgments of anyone's choices. Either one means an immediate ban.
Disabled, chronically ill, neurodivergent, or tired to your very core.
Women of every race, culture, and heritage.

What this looks like in practice

The larger offerings come with payment plans, so the cost can be spread out instead of landing at once. If money is what stands between you and this work, write to me, because sliding-scale participation may be considered.
You can join the Sangha with no prerequisite, on its own or alongside anything else, and your rate stays locked for as long as you stay.
Live calls are recorded, so missing one doesn't mean falling behind.
What happens here is coaching and personal development, so it sits outside therapy, medical or psychiatric care, and legal advice, and nobody can honestly promise you a particular outcome from it. If you're in crisis, reach for a crisis line or a clinician first — this work will still be here when you're steadier.

I won't get all of this right. I'm building it as I go, and some of what's written here will turn out to be too narrow, or wrong in a way I can't see yet. If something on this site or in a session made you feel less welcome, tell me at tara@taranixon.com.
